The RDJ Dublin City Triathlon Childrens Fun Event is a free, non-competitive event. This is not a race and not a timed event. Children can complete an approximately 500m fun loop around the grass perimeter of the RDJ DCT transition area, enjoying activity stations along the way.
Every child who takes part will receive an RDJ Dublin City Triathlon Finisher Medal, an RDJ Dublin City Triathlon Swim Hat and a surprise goody!
The event is recommended for children between 7 and 12 years. Younger children are welcome accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Entry is free but registration via Eventmaster is essential.

Event information
Venue: DCT Sprint Race HQ – Garda Boat Club, Dublin 8
Time:
Course Open: 8:00am – 8:20am.
Children may start at any time but please note the course will take approx 10–15 minutes to complete.
The course closes at 8:20am, allowing everyone to enjoy the atmosphere and cheer on the RDJ Dublin City Triathlon Sprint competitors at the swim start.


What to expect
The approximately 500m course will include a series of fun activity stations. As this is a child centred participation event with no winners, results or prizes, children can walk or run, and choose to participate (or not!) at stations as they wish. Children can be accompanied by an adult.
Registration
All children accompanied by their parent/guardian must register at the dedicated Children’s Event Registration Desk at Race HQ before taking part.
Go straight to the Children’s Event Registration Desk. Please do not join the adult Sprint Triathlon registration queue.
Registration opens at 7.30am and closes at 8:00am.
Parents/guardians will receive:
- Child’s event number
- Matching collection sticker
- Course information including position of start, activity stations and Finish Collection Area.
Emergency contact details will be recorded on the reverse of the child’s event number.
Collection
For safeguarding reasons, children must be collected promptly from the designated Finish Collection Area.
A child will only be released to an adult presenting the matching collection sticker. ID may be required for Child Safeguarding purposes.

The RDJ Dublin City Triathlon is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and enjoyable experience for every child.
The Event Safeguarding Lead and Designated Liaison Person (DLP) is Vanessa Fenton, whose contact details will be displayed together with Piranha Triathlon Club’s Child Safety Statement at the Children’s Event Registration Desk.

By attending this event, participants, parents, spectators and volunteers agree to Triathlon Ireland’s Code of Conduct and Triathlon Ireland’s Safeguarding Policies. Triathlon Ireland’s Code of Conduct is displayed below and Triathlon Ireland’s Safeguarding Policies can be accessed via QRs contained in the Code of Conduct.

Photography & Filming
Official photographers appointed by Dublin City Triathlon and Triathlon Ireland may be present throughout the event. Photography and filming will be managed in accordance with the Triathlon Ireland Photography & Filming Policy.
Photography Policy:
Parents and spectators are respectfully asked to:
- Photograph or film only children in their own care wherever possible.
- Avoid publishing identifiable images of other children without parental consent.
- Follow any instructions from event officials regarding photography.
- Report any concerns immediately to the Event Safeguarding Lead.
Parking
There is parking in the GAA Club adjacent to race HQ. Please note the Chalpelizod Road will be closed at 8.30am sharp so cars cannot leave the adjacent car park from 8.30am until the end of the adult races.
Children’s Playground
There is a children’s playground in Liffey Valley Park, next to Donore Track and the DCT Sprint and Try run turnaround.. Please note that this Playground is not part of DCT events and DCT is not responsible for this facility.

- Parents/guardians remain responsible for their child except while participating on the supervised event course.

- The course includes natural grass and paved surfaces where slips and trips are possible.
- By entering this event, participants agree to comply with the Triathlon Ireland Event Code of Conduct and Photography & Filming Policy.
- Suitable runners or other closed-toe footwear must be worn.
- Please advise organisers of any relevant medical conditions, allergies or additional support requirements before participation.
- The event will proceed in most weather conditions. Organisers reserve the right to amend, delay or cancel the event if necessary in the interests of participant safety.
- The organisers reserve the right to amend the timetable, course or event format where required for operational or safety reasons.
- The organisers reserve the right to refuse participation or remove any participant or spectator whose behaviour is unsafe or inconsistent with Triathlon Ireland’s Code of Conduct.
